Description of The National Geographic Afghan Girl

Unlike the rest of my work which is more figurative, this painting is more realistic and tried to capture the expression of the girl in the National Geographic picture. The picture of a 12 year old Afghan girl taken in 1984 by Steve McCurry and in the cover of a 1985 National Geographic magazine is one of the most recognized faces thoroughout the world. The image itself was named “the most recognized photograph” in the history of the magazine.
